As teachers know, student’s best learn the basic principles of subjects through activities which illustrate the phenomena. However, we teachers should have done the activities for being able to guide children to do them.
As we did not have adequate understanding of this approach in our school, we sought the association of Sri Satish Bhide, Sri Ajit Takke and Prof. Gujarati of Nasik, who are deeply committed to educate students through interesting and engaging activities. They are amazing teachers and can reach any child or teacher to ignite the fire to do and understand. |
We gradually improved this endeavour and over a few years our teaching paradigm started changing. It was time we institutionalised the approach and this led to building the “Science Activities and innovation Centre (SAIC).” Apart from the offline sessions that we had been arranging, we incorporated one activity period in the time table of classes 6 to 8, which were conducted in the SAIC.
Having a room for such an endeavour is of immense value and benefit. Of course, we would have to build a couple of teachers interested in such activities. |
