SEAMS — REFERENCES
“Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.” Albert Einstein Teachers and other professionals learn and improve their contribution on an ongoing basis. In the process they learn, use and improve many techniques which are necessary. Only some document the processes. Hence, the benefits remain restricted to an individual or to a small group. If the processes and outcomes of such efforts were documented and available widely, it might benefit others. Many individuals and organizations are making appreciable efforts to share ideas through different media. SEAMS would like to join this movement. Over the years, we developed some documents to systematize and improve schools from within. We included some of them in this website for possible use by others. Even a non–critical reader will make out that these documents are, by no means of a “professional” level, and they are not “ready” for use. One could use them only as a starting point and “customize” them. It is suggested that we, teachers, should customise them to our school context, rather than invite “professionals” from other contexts to do it for us. This process will make us and our schools stronger. The documents and processes thus generated will be more applicable to our school context. Hence they will be used more and will be more useful. We experienced and understand that when teachers or teacher–administrators design and develop even the non–academic documents, in–house, they safeguard the spirit of education better compared to the documents we “implant” from contexts like the manufacturing or service sectors. SEAMS will be happy to interact with anyone regarding these documents to enable the process of customization. |
